Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers are a major health burden and pose a significant challenge worldwide. GI cancers represent over one-quarter (26%) of the global cancer incidence and over one-third (35%) of all cancer-related deaths. The overall burden of GI cancers is rapidly increasing worldwide, reflecting not only population growth and aging but also the prevalence and spread of risk factors.
